                                                                    IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR DRINKING WATER

                                                              Monitoring Requirements Not Met for City of Lake Mary, PWS 3590201

We are required to monitor your drinking water for specific contaminants on a regular basis. Results of regular monitoring are an indicator of whether our drinking water meets health standards. During 2nd quarter of 2023 we did not monitor for contaminant number 2039, Di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate and therefore cannot be sure of the quality of our drinking water during that time.

Quarterly testing was required due to March 1, 2023, results being above reporting detection limit or 0.6 parts per billion (ppb) for Di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate contaminant. The March 1, 2023, sample result 0.74 ppb did not exceed the 6.0 ppb respective maximum contaminant levels (MCLs) of this contaminant.

           (1) Di (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate. Some people who drink water containing di (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate well in excess of the MCL over many years may have                    problems with their liver, or experience reproductive difficulties, and may have an increased risk of getting cancer.

What should I do?

There is nothing you need to do at this time.

What happened?

Because all previous sampling results were below reporting levels, it is believed that the sample result above the reporting detection limit is due to a lab error; the July 2023 sample result 0.46 ppb did not exceed the reporting level.

What is being done?

The City of Lake Mary has increased sampling for Synthetic Organic Contaminants (SOC) to quarterly monitoring. The sampling will be conducted in July 2023, October 2023, January2024 and April 2024.
