Welcome to the office of the City Clerk. This department has many important duties such as being the custodian of all official City records, preparing and publishing legal advertisements required by law and being responsible for issuing local business tax receipts in accordance with the City's Code of Ordinances and State Statutes. Additional duties include coordinating the appointments by the City Commission to various advisory boards, and keeping and attesting to all official records of the City while ensuring compliance by all departments with records retention/destruction requirements in accordance with Florida law.
The City Clerk is also the local Elections Official for the City. Regular elections are scheduled for the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November of each year. The Mayor and Commission are elected for two-year terms with three seats being up one year and the other two the next. Each candidate seeking the office of Mayor or City Commissioner shall be a qualified elector and shall have resided within the incorporated City limits for over one consecutive year immediately prior to the time for qualifying for office with the City Clerk. The qualifying period begins at noon seventy-one days prior to the municipal election and ends at the same time four days later.

The Custodian of all Public Records for the City of Lake Mary, except Police Department Public Records, is the City Clerk. Please direct all requests for Public Records, other than Police Department records, to Amber Branton.
All requests for Police Department’s Public Records should be directed to the Records Division.
Additionally, please note under Florida law, email addresses are public records. If you do not want your email address released in response to a public records request, do not send electronic communications. Instead, contact the office by phone, in writing or in person.
